Why Close State Parks?
The state of New York is in deep financial trouble as are many other states. All these states seem to think it is alright to close state parks to assist in trimming their cash shortage. All the government agencies seem to take the same path because cutting what does not seem necessary to them will be the path of least resistance. The issue is when one looks at the problem for a second and third time it should become obvious that they are hurting the taxpayers who use the facilities. The shuttering of the facilities will cause them to fall into disrepair. In several years when the cash is again flowing at the state level the damage to the facilities will be so large that the state will deem the damage to costly to repair. That is the point when they sell the properties off to the highest bidder. That will mean the loss of precious land and its wildlife to the residents of each of the local areas hurt by this political shell game. The question becomes when will we be able to turn these people out of office and start with a new slate? Our government needs thinkers and problem solvers not foolish individuals who just want to save their own hides.
