Educate The Best Minds Around The Globe And Retain Their Services

The world is full of people who have great minds but have no place to let them grow. In many instances the individual in a foreign country cannot get good schooling no matter haw smart they are. The U.S. needs a program to identify these young people and invest in their potential. The best way to accomplish this task is to set up special boarding schools and train these young individuals to help become our next world leaders. If we assist in the training and education process of these students we will be a big step ahead of the curve when it comes to having future world leaders who understand our ways and wish to serve the world with their intelligence and education.

What we can do for ourselves is to educate these people and then let them serve the U.S. and their homeland by being leaders who debate and resolve problems and issues instead of going t war. We can help develop these special people to make the world safer and still allow them to be part of their mother country. Of course there would be those who would wish to stay in the U.S. after their education is complete. For that group the choice would be theirs to make. However, if part of their training was designed to impress on them how important their service would be to their mother country most would elect to return to their homeland.

Part of the return policy could be assisted by the U.S. placement of each individual in a secured position within their area of training and in their home country. This would facilitate the use of the individual's skills where they may best be used. This would also put each individual where they can best be allowed to grow and become a leader of their country. Leaders who are in other countries and who have been educated in the U.S. are presently our best chance of maintaining world peace. This is not a truly new concept but it is a cheaper and safer way to peace than any other I can think of.

Business Competition As A Contact Sport

America is in a hole, so to speak, yet there may be light at the end of the tunnel. Speaking with many business owners, corporate heads, and many others, who comprise a strong cross section of the American business environment, have a complaint which is always the same or quite similar. The complaint is that they are starting to run out of ideas for finding the competitive edge. In my experience one never runs out of ideas but we do become too lazy to conjure up new approaches. Part of this no new ideas issue is because our higher education process has failed to teach business as a contact sport. If you do not get the street savvy from the street few if any get it from business school. There are also those who get it through participation in sports.

Business is not different from any contact sport. It generally takes great effort, even for the most talented, to become good at a sport yet it is a process and condition that can be learned. First you learn the rules then the functional basics. These skills and knowledge are studied and practiced until they become second nature to the individual. From that point the individual works within a framework of that which is learned and aggressively exploits each and every potential for contact as well as the actual point of contact to win the momentary contest. Understanding the rules, how the others on the team play, and sizing up how the opponents play provides many openings to capture a momentary win.

Winning is not the whole issue because one win does not make a success. It is the string of wins that provide success. It always takes savvy and determination to win the moment and the game. When the game is business it takes vision and a team master to bring it all together. A well prepared team will refuse to give in to the possibility that there is an unsolvable problem or condition confronting their business. The idea is to break the barrier down and do what the competition does not expect at every turn. One must think out the approach to solutions as would a chess master with The Art of War by Sun Su as the business worrier's guide. It is all action and information that can be learned, and if practiced, will become second nature and enhance the fun of a contact sport.

The question is when will the business schools get the message and a start to incorporate the contact sport approach when teaching how to win in business?

Contact sports are not only about learning the game and the rules but also how to play to win. If you think they teach that in business school you are quite wrong.

Coin Of The Realm (How The Euro Hurt Europe)

The Euro is the coin of the realm for Europe replacing the currencies created supported and previously backed by the major countries which are now part of the European Union. Entrance into the EU came with a cost to each nation which required them to give up their sovereign currency and fully replace those currencies with the new Euro. This process was designed to provide a single currency to enable the trade within the European Union to operate with out the constant currency value fluctuations which restrict trade and cause accounting nightmares when balancing accounts. The Euro was also designed to provide a stable currency which would nearly have the global acceptability of the U.S. dollar and function as a tool to keep the monitory records and accounting practices, of all members, under one system.

The system still does function as a governing tool yet it has created one short coming that, if the old sovereign currencies were in place, would alleviate the present condition of a possible nation or nations in default. If the old currenies were in place each nation could print its own money and pay its way out of its own debt. This would keep the countries from default and allow them to buy time to restructure their finances slowly building their credit line back to globally acceptable levels. With out such a tool the countries which demonstrate current financial distress require a bail out, in the form of funds, from within the European Union. Though external funds can be provided there do not seem to be any true providers. China has made a gesture toward the purchase of Greek bonds if the European Union would guarantee the debt and assist China in attaining full status within the World Trade Organization. Neither of those options was entertained by the EU.

In the end the Euro which was responsible for uniting the countries of the EU is now responsible for the difficulty of resolving the current financial condition of several of its members. Though the Euro has and is still making it difficult to resolve the current issues at hand the true responsibilities for these issues and problems is the poor and irresponsible management of the spending and governing habits of the individual countries. Once the EU works its way out of this mess the first issue that must be addressed is the accountability of the financial information provided quarterly to the central committee which should audit each submittal for accuracy and reasonable budgets.
